NONGPOH: The Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP), Nongpoh Circle, has extended assistance to a financially struggling mother of four young children living in a severely damaged house at Mawroh village in the Nongpoh area.

Led by its president, Precious Khymdeit, members of the organisation visited the family and donated roofing sheets to help repair the house, which has deteriorated to the point where it is reportedly at risk of collapse.

The assistance was provided after the organisation learned about the family’s difficult living conditions through Roney Majaw, a member of the FKJGP who also serves as the Rangbah Dong of Mawroh.

Khymdeit said the organisation had taken up the matter after receiving information about the family’s plight and explored ways to extend whatever assistance it could.

Despite its limited resources, the FKJGP Nongpoh Circle managed to provide roofing sheets to help the family cover and improve the damaged house, offering some protection from wind and rain.

Khymdeit further stressed that the house urgently needed repairs, as its deteriorating condition had made it unsafe for the family to continue living there. He expressed concern that the structure could collapse at any time, putting the mother and her four young children at risk.

The initiative reflects the organisation’s effort to support vulnerable families in the area, particularly those struggling to afford basic housing repairs.
