The Executive Committee of Seng Kur Warjri announced that the Annual General Council 2020 slated to be held at Sohryngkham village was cancelled due to social concern that arose out of the stringent regulations imposed by the authorities in view of the Covid 19 pandemic. The consequences are more burdensome on the poor people particularly the inhabitants at the remote areas of the State. One such situation is the misery encountered by the family of an old lady, Thaneh Warjri of Kyrdemkulai. Few decades ago, she migrated to Kyrdemkulai for better livelihood and settled there with her children. Later, while her children got married and shifted to other region for their respective occupations, she was infected with cataract and left at the care of her youngest daughter until she was completely blind. The onslaught of corona virus had brought about severe misfortune for the family when both her daughter and her husband died within a short span during the period of pandemic. Their children were orphaned and starving along with the helpless grandmother without any sources of income. Consequently, the eldest adolescent grandchild, Aidalin Warjri is bound to take the mantle of feeding her two younger brothers and her ailing grandmother through petty job in the village. The misfortune of the family came to the notice of the clan elders of Seng Kur Warjri, and immediate action were taken by the clan organisation to provide some charities. With the contribution of certain clan elders, the contribution of essential commodities and clothing were donated during the initial visit. However, the visiting delegation discovered that the sheltering shed was in a dilapidated condition and arranged for renovation, which was completed recently.
On Monday, the delegation of Warjri clan organisation led by it’s President Mr D L Warjri, General Secretary Mr Sunshine Warjri along with two executive members, Rudy Warjri and Raphael Warjri visited the affected family and took stock of the situation with subsequent contribution of essential items and ensure the safety of the shelter and sufficient provision for livelihood. The clan organisation appraised every unit in the state to be vigilant about such cases of adversity face by the clan members in the society to salvage the situation.
