As we all know that the Coronavirus Pandemic and its subsequent impact has affected us in many ways, but it has affected the poor and the marginalised sections of society the most.

The crisis is still continuing thereby making the lives of the underprivileged sections of the society more vulnerable as they can hardly afford to maintain to keep purchasing masks and soap to protect themselves and their families from the deadly virus as they are already burdened and suffering to provide two meals a day to their families.

Acknowledging the possibility of the second wave of COVID 19 and understanding the needs of the underprivileged and distressed families, the Indian Red Cross Society Shillong came forward and extended their valuable towards these target groups by donating 400 numbers of masks and four boxes of soaps for distribution among the underprivileged children and their families.

With the valuable and most useful support from the Indian Red Cross Society Shillong, Meghalaya, SPARK distributed the masks and soaps reaching out to the children and families of  5 villages namely Mawlong-Umsali Village, Mawlynrei Triashnong Village, Pongkung Village, Rangmen Village and Bara Bazaar Slum.

This distribution of masks and soaps at this crucial time has been a boon for these families giving them some relief from the stress of putting their very limited earnings in the purchase of masks and soap for their protection from the Coronavirus outbreak.

Thus on behalf of the beneficiaries, SPARK takes this opportunity to extend its sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the Chairperson of the Managing Body of the Indian Red Cross Society Meghalaya Branch, Shillong Shri. R. G. Lyngdoh, the member Shri. Ashok  Goenka and Shri. Andrew Sawian, the Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society Shillong as well as Madam Memora Shabong and the entire team of Indian Red Cross Society Shillong, Meghalaya for their support , thoughtfulness, kindness  and concern toward the deprived section of the society .

So in this fight against Coronavirus spread, we make a Humble APPEAL to you all to extend your valuable support to donate and distribute hygiene kits or sanitary pads or any other essentials as per your feasibility to support those in need. With your partnership, we will be able to help the deprived in their sustainability at this crucial time as well as avoid transmission of the virus from one to another.
