The inauguration for the Induction Training Programme of the Meghalaya Civil Service, 2021 conducted by the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute, Shillong was held on the 1st of July, 2021 at the MATI Campus, Mawdiangdiang. The training was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K. Sangma, in the presence of dignitaries from the Government of Meghalaya, MATI officials and staff and the Trainee Officers. There are 38 Trainee Officers hailing from 8 districts from the state of Meghalaya.
The Trainee Officers are from various educational and professional backgrounds, ages and genders. The Induction Training Programme will be a 6 (six) months intensive in-house training programme, which will strive to equip the officer trainees with the skills, knowledge and attitude for performing their duties effectively and efficiently. It is also the first time the state is conducting an in-house training programme for the Meghalaya Civil Service. In his address to the Trainee Officers, the Hon’ble Chief Minister congratulated the Trainee Officers on successfully clearing the exam and joining the Meghalaya Civil Service. He then stressed on the different “Ps” of governance; mainly Purpose, Passion, People, Punctuality, Politeness, Persistence, Planning, Procedures, Patience and the mighty “Pen”. The Hon’ble Chief Minister concluded by reminding the Trainee Officers that they must keep one simple guiding principle in life – that the officer trainees are all here to make a positive difference in the peoples lives. The inauguration ended by an oath taking ceremony administered by the Additional Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya and Director General of MATI, Smti. R. V.
