vaccination coverage

Jul 16, 2021

A number of localities in Shillong City have undertaken detailed surveys to determine the exact vaccination coverage in their locality, so that no one is missed out. Such surveys through door-to-door visits and telephonic enquiries for each category (18+, 45+) have been done under the guidance of the Incident Commanders, EMs and Medical Officers, involving ASHAs, CCMTs and volunteers. The Office of the Deputy Commissioner acknowledges and appreciates the work put in by all the localities and CCMTs to improve vaccination coverage for their residents. Recently, two localities have submitted detailed reports of their endeavours to the Deputy Commissioner, which are as follows:-

  1. Nongrim Hills- Out of a total of 3675 eligible residents, the Dorbar has achieved 80% coverage for 18+ residents. 14.73% refuse to be vaccinated while 6.51% consist of those citing health issues, Covid-recoveries, etc.
  2. R. R. Colony- Out of a total of 2750 eligible residents, not counting Covid-recoveries, pregnant women, etc. 99.7% have been vaccinated. 4 persons have refused. For refusal cases, reasons for refusal have been noted and more sensitization will be done in collaboration with Medical Officers in order to address any concerns about the vaccine.
It may be mentioned that at present, Nongrim Hills has 5 active cases and R R Colony has 1 active case. No deaths have been recorded in Nongrim Hills since 26th May (A 65 year old Male), while no deaths have been recorded in R.R. Colony since 12th June (an 82 year old Female).
