The District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District observed the International Day of Older Persons 2023 at a function held at Neng Gate Community Hall, Pynursla, on 4th October, 2023. The theme for the celebration is “Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations.”

The programme was attended by Smti E. Warjri, Sub-Divisional Officer, Pynursla Civil Sub Division, Pynursla as the Chief Guest in the presence of Smti E. Kharchandy, District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District, officials from the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Khasi Hills District, District Child Protection Officer and senior citizens of Pynursla areas.

The highlights of the day are lectures on the subjects “Matters related with health issues concerning the Senior Citizens” and “Maintenance & Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007”, free Medical & Health Check Up Camp for senior citizens and distribution of gifts to all senior citizens who attended the programme.
