The North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Society (NERCORMS), a
Society under North Eastern Council, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region,
Govt. of lndia, recently commemorated Swachhata Pakhwada with a series of significant
activities both in Shillong and Laitkyrhong village in the East Khasi Hills district of
Meghalaya.
NERCORMS team, together with 35 students from Seven Set Higher Secondary School,
Shillong and 30 students from Seng Khasi LP School, Laitkyrhong, NERCORMS planted
300+ tree saplings in Laitkyrhong, East Khasi Hills district on the 25th of May, 2024
(Saturday). Partner NGOs of NERCORMS carried out tree plantation drive in various
districts in North Eastern Region.
ln addition to the tree plantation drive, NERCORMS organized a comprehensive cleaning
campaign in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong of Nongrim Hills. Officials and staff of
NERCORMS and the local communities enthusiastically participated in the social
activities. A thorough cleaning drive was taken up in the streets of Nongrim Hills, as well
as the NERCORMS office premises and its surrounding areas.
These activities reflect NERCORMS’s dedication to environmental stewardship and
community involvement. By engaging in afforestation and cleanliness drives,
NERCORMS and its partners actively contribute to the Swachh Bharat (Clean lndia)
mission, promoting environmentalconsciousness and encouraging sustainable practices
within the community.
ln addition, an awareness programme on Menstrual Hygiene and distribution of
Biodegradable Sanitary Napkins under Swachhta Pakhwada was carried out by
NERCORMS on the 28th of May,2024 (Tuesday) which is a Menstrual Health Day at St.
Aloysius Secondary School, Mawlai Kynton Massar, Shillong.
NERCORMS have also organized a Blood Donation camp in collaboration with
NEIGHRIMS Hospital, $hillong and in association with the dorbar shnong Nongrim Hills,
Shillong on the 30th of May,2024 at NERCORMS office premises, Lower Nongrim Hills,
Shillong.
