Together with the rest of the state, the 53rd anniversary of statehood Meghalaya was also observed in Ri Bhoi Headquarter Nongpoh at District Library Hall today January 21st in the august presence of Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh MLA of Umsning Constituency, Shri Abhilash Baranwal IAS Deputy Commissioner, Shri Banshan Kharkongngor Professor, Smti B.Ranee ADC, Shri B.L Pakyntein ADC and others.

The  53rd Meghalaya Day Celebration commencing with the Meghalaya Day Run 2025 from Dulongnar village to NSCA Indoor Stadium Umlyngkdait flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District.

On this occasion of Meghalaya Day celebration, a visual short story showcasing the state’s history during the Hills State’s movement was presented by the office of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations and also a slide presentation presented by professor Banshan Kharkongngor on the non-violence movement of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo people demanding for state independence. The celebration was also entertained with song and cultural dance “ Ka Shad Sajer”  performed by a cultural troop of Nongkhrah.

The Deputy Commissioner in his speech at the gathering, said that government employees play a vital role in shaping the future of the state, dedication, hardwork and commitment to public service will helped in driving the state’s growth, hence we should be more proactive to duties and dedicate our efforts for the progress of the state, he added

Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh while speaking at the gathering expressed his immensely pleasure to be part of the celebration, said that Meghalaya State had completed its 53rd years of its statehood along with developments in all spheres. However a long journeys ahead we still need to go. Therefore, this day marks a significant milestone in our state and a testament to our collective journey towards progress and development. Adding that each and everyone should have a goal and should count the changes that  had done in the service and also to be sincere and dedication for the prosper and progress of the people of the state and the state as a whole.
