On 23 Jan, 25. Acting on specific tip-off, in a swift and successful operation based on specific intelligence, troops of BSF Meghalaya foiled an illegal border crossing attempt.

                Alert troops of 172 Bn noticed suspicious movements during their vigil and immediately launched a search operation in East Jaintia Hills along the Indo-Bangladesh border. And intercepted six Bangladeshi nationals upon apprehension, the six individuals revealed that they had illegally entered India a few months ago. They further disclosed that they had been employed as domestic workers in Bangalore and were now attempting to return to Bangladesh through unauthorized means. The apprehended persons revealed their identity as  i) Shilpi W/o  Miraj Sikdher (26  yrs), R/o vill – Rajapur,  PO- Rajapur  Thesil & PS-  Raida, District – Bagerhat ,  Bangladesh, ii) Miss Mariya D/o Miraj Sikdher (11yrs)iii) Miss. Rohima, D/o  Miraj Sikdher (06  yrs)iv) Mr. Farooq, S/o Miraj Sikdar (2 yrs)V) Rumana  W/o Mohammed Edrish (23 yrs), R/o Village Chootapuri, PS- Moralganj, District -Bagerhat, Bangladesh vi) Mr.  Rahat S/o Mohammed Edrish (07 yrs)

The seized items and apprehended person were handed over to concerned police station PPP Umkiang for further investigation and legal proceedings.
