After pursuing one bike theft gang for the past few weeks, in a well coordinated effort by Sohra PS and Special Cell EKH, two bike thieves namely, Babu Marak 19yrs of Dalia Shella and Sunday N. Sangma 30 yrs of Samanda EGH were intercepted yesterday evening at Sohra Rim in a Suzuki Gixer bike ML 05 AD 4393, stolen from Smit, to be sold to receivers from Bangladesh. They had received the bike in Mawkdok from another group who are involved in lifting bikes from the city. In a follow up operation, three persons who stole the bike and involved in umpteen number of bike cases were arrested in 7th Mile EKH with a scooty , namely Shri Barabor Namsaw(28), r/o Jirang, Patharkhmah, Shri Banroilang Iawrod(19) r/o Kynbahmalai, Phlangwambroi Mawsynram and Shri Declin Warjri(20)r/o Nongmensong Shillong. While continuing with the checking at Sohra, another bike stolen on 23.02.25 morning from Mawiong Umjapung , an R15 ML05AA 3297 stopped ahead of the checking at Nongsawlia, abandoned the bike and escaped.
