We are happy to inform you that a new chapter in the journey of education and community development began in Mawlong village with the inauguration of a newly constructed classroom dedicated to providing free education to underprivileged children. The initiative was supported by the Office of the Chief Minister of Meghalaya under the Chief Minister’s Special Rural Development Fund (CMSRDF) and facilitated through the Mawpat Block Office.

The classroom is a significant milestone for Mawlong, offering the village children a chance for a brighter future through access to education and knowledge. It symbolizes hope, opportunity, and progress for the entire community.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed a heartwarming moment as young children and village elders together cut the ribbon, officially marking the commencement of classes. The event was attended by parents, community leaders, and well-wishers, along with students and representatives from St. Mary’s College, St. Anthony’s College, Women’s College, and Shillong College, making it a grand and memorable occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, local leaders and community members expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the realization of this long-cherished dream. Their collective efforts have brought forth a vital platform for the education, empowerment, and development of Mawlong’s children and the village as a whole.

This classroom stands not just as a structure of bricks and mortar, but as a beacon of hope and commitment to inclusive education and rural upliftment.
