The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Shillong, under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, will celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga in collaboration with the Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, on 21st June 2025 at the Mission’s Laitumkhrah Campus. The event will be held as part of this year’s global theme, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, emphasizing yoga’s role in achieving harmony between human health and planetary well-being, drawing from the Indian ethos of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” (May all be free from disease).

The yoga session will be led by a trained Yoga Instructor from the Meghalaya Yog Samiti, who will conduct a guided demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) developed by the Ministry of AYUSH. The session will include yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques designed to foster physical vitality and mental clarity.

The inaugural ceremony will be graced by the presence of revered monks from the Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong. Leading the proceedings will be Swami Hitakamananda ji Maharaj, Secretary of the Mission, accompanied by Swami Divyaswarupananda ji Maharaj and Swami Vedeshananda ji Maharaj.

Participants will include students of Ramakrishna Mission Shillong, NCC cadets, and parents, symbolizing a community-wide embrace of wellness through yoga.

In addition to the yoga demonstration, the event will feature interactive activities such as quiz competitions among students, aimed at increasing awareness about the benefits of yoga, India’s rich yogic tradition, and the significance of International Yoga Day. These activities are designed to promote engagement, learning, and enthusiasm among the youth.

This joint celebration by CBC Shillong and Ramakrishna Mission underscores the transformative power of yoga and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle rooted in India’s timeless wisdom.

This celebration is part of the nationwide initiative ‘Yoga Sangam’, which aims to unite communities across India through synchronized mass yoga demonstrations. As part of the build-up to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the introduction of 10 Signature Events by the Ministry of Ayush has sparked an overwhelming response, both nationally and internationally. Against an initial target of 1 lakh registrations, an extraordinary 11 lakh organizations and groups have already registered for the 21st June Yoga Sangam at their respective locations via the official Yoga Portal of the Ministry.
