Whereas, it has been reported that there many 16-wheeler sand and boulder laden trucks are plying along the Shella-Sohra road, carrying loads in excess of permissible norms; Whereas, complaints have also have been received from many Sirdar, Sordar, Headmen etc. on the pl,ving of these overloaded trucks being a nuisance and a danger to pedestrians; Whereas, the plying of these overloaded trucks poses dangers to vehicular and pedestrian traffic along the route while also causing traffic jams especially on sharp turns along the road, with instances of overturned trucks on these sharp bends also received; Whereas, the plying of these overloaded truck hds’caused damage to the newly constructed road with potholes and cracks seen on tLresurface of the roads; Whereas, such overloaded trucks are a danger to the general public and normal traffic, and I am satisfied that a prohibitory order is necessar5r to be passed in this matter. Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023,I Shri Mark A. Challam, MCS, SubDir,{sional-Magistafe;-sotrra’eirril ‘Sub-Division, East Khasi Hills District hereby prohibit the following: 1. Carrying of boulders and sand beyond the permissible lead lirnit. 2. Transportation of boulders and sand by trucks between the hours of 5:OO AM and 8:00 PM towards Shillong- Sohra Road Any violation or non-compliance wittr these orders shall attract action under the relevant sections of law. In view of the nature and urgency of the matter, this order is passed ex-parte and shall come into force with irnmediate effect.
