The 10 Meghalaya State Shooting Championship 2025 which saw an incredible six days of competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie came to an end on the 20th.july 2025 at the Prisition Indoor Shooting range of the Assam Regimental Centre, Happy Valley, Shillong. Around one hundred shooters from different districts of the State ie Ri-Bhoi, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, West Garo Hills, North Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills competed in the championship in different categories in both pistol and rifle. This included junior, youth, sub-youth, masters, senior masters and super masters categories. The chief guest at the closing function and medal ceremony was shri SK BHALLA, ITS, Secretary, North Eastern Council. Other guest invitees present were shri P.B War Nongbri, Astt. Director, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, shri Vikram Malik, Co Founder & Director, Sportality, and Shri, Dipshon Ryntathiang, Chairman Podium Committee, MSOA. Also present in the occassion were shri John F Kharshiieng, Presedent SAM, Shri Davis NR Marak Vice President SAM, shri Niel Sooting General Secretary, SAM, The Executive members of SAM and Presidents, Secretaries and representatives from other affiliated shooting associations from different districts of the State besides the Atheletes. In his address the Chief Guest, Shri 5 K BHALLA, ITS. lauded SAM for the successful and smooth conduct of the championship in spite of the challenges faced. He also congratulated all shooters for their participation, sportsmanship and talent. He motivated and encouraged the Shooters to compete not only at the State and Nation levels but to aim, focus, strive and make a mark in international stage Shri John F. Kharshiieng, President SAM delivered the welcome address and presented a brief highlight of the Championship. He also spoke on the future prospects, opportunities and challenges of shooting sports. Shri Davis NR Marak, IPS DIG (ER), & Vice President SAM briefed the Shooters on the important updates, scope and guidelines relating to the 39th. National Games 2027 to be hosted by Meghalaya. Shri Neil Sooting, General Secretary SAM, in his vote of thanks, expressed his gratitude to Assam Regimental Centre for always supporting SAM with the Ranges and other facilities. He also expressed his gratitude to the Juries of the championship and to all those who supported and made the championship a grand success. Medals to all outstanding Shooters who have excelled with their marksmanship in the different disciplines and categories of shooting sports were given away by the Chief Guests and other dignitaries on this day.
