Justice Soumen Sen was formally sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court during a ceremony held at the Dorbar Hall of Raj Bhavan Shillong.
Meghalaya Governor, C. H. Vijayashankar administered the oath of office to Justice Sen, who succeeded Chief Justice, I. P. Mukerji following his retirement on September 5, 2025.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, Leader of Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, and several other dignitaries.
Justice Sen’s appointment as Chief Justice was approved by the President of India on September 26, 2025, based on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.
