The Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), Meghalaya, Shillong, inaugurated its Golden Jubilee Year Celebration (2025–2026) on the 10th October 2025 at the DERT premises, Nongrimmaw, Laitumkhrah, Shillong. The theme of the Celebration is “Honouring the past, Empowering the present and Shaping the future”. This milestone event commemorates 50 years of the Directorate’s service in advancing in the field of Teacher Education, Educational Research and Training, and Professional Development in the State of Meghalaya.The inaugural programme was graced by the Honourable Minister of Education, Shri.Lahkmen Rymbui as a Chief Guest, Shri. Vijay Kumar Mantri, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Education Department as the guest of honour and Shri. Ryntihlang Rapthap, IAS Commissioner and Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Education Department as Special Guest along with other distinguished dignitaries, educationists and stakeholders from various Departments and institutions.Since its establishment in 1976, the Directorate has been in the forefront of capacity building for teachers, curriculum development, material development, innovative research and a wide range of programme and activities in the field of education. Throughout the past 50 years, DERT has played a pivotal role in strengthening the quality of teacher education in the State.
