Project Empathy, in collaboration with Assam Rifles Public School, Shillong, hosted the launch of the empathy art exhibition ‘I AM WITH YOU’ at All Saints Hall, Shillong today. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Justice of Meghalaya, Justice Soumen Sen, in the presence of principals, teachers, students and members of the Assam Rifles fraternity.
The exhibition aims to celebrate empathy as both an emotion and a way of living — expressed through the creativity and imagination of young artists. It features artworks from various participating schools, each narrating stories of connection, healing, and shared humanity.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Justice Justice Soumen Sen remarked, “Young artists, you remind us that compassion can be as simple as noticing someone’s pain, offering a helping hand, or celebrating another’s joy. ‘I Am With You’ will encourage us to reflect on how we treat each other, and how we can make our communities more caring and inclusive.”
Students of Assam Rifles Public School also presented an Empathy Song and a Nukkad Natak (street play), reinforcing messages of kindness, inclusion and understanding through art and performance.
Speaking on the occasion, the Founder of Project Empathy shared that the initiative envisions the establishment of The Indian Empathy Institution – an organisation dedicated to promoting empathy as both a concept and a lived experience. The founder highlighted that empathy education in schools can play a crucial role in addressing mental health challenges and nurturing compassionate young citizens for nation-building.
Director General Assam Rifles, Lt General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, in his address, emphasised the importance of empathy and community engagement. He stated, “Everyone deserves empathy, and Assam Rifles is positively engaged with communities in the far-flung and remote areas of the North East region.”
The exhibition ‘I AM WITH YOU’ will remain open to visitors till 31st October 2025 at All Saints Hall, Shillong. The organiser invites everyone to experience the transformative power of art, how art can heal, connect and inspire empathy.
