As part of the Audit Week 2025 Outreach Programme, a Pension & Provident Fund Adalat was organized today at the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit & Entitlement), Meghalaya, marking a significant step toward resolving long-pending pension and provident fund cases affecting numerous stakeholders across the state. The Adalat served as a dedicated platform for Drawing & Disbursing Officers (DDOs), departmental representatives and district-level officials to collaboratively address systemic delays hindering the timely settlement of provident fund claims.
Shri L. Hangsing, Principal Accountant General (A&E), Meghalaya, who inaugurated the Adalat, emphasized the critical importance of the initiative. “We must utilize this platform to clear all pending pension and provident fund cases efficiently and ensure that no beneficiary is left waiting for their rightful entitlements,” he stated. He informed participants that an online submission system for pension and GPF cases is under development, with authorities now issued digitally through e-Pension, e-GPF portals and DigiLocker for beneficiaries.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring timely, transparent settlement of beneficiaries’ entitlements. The Adalat identified other critical issues including name mismatches, documentation errors and significant delays in GPF case submissions by DDOs and Heads of Departments, causing hardships for stakeholders dependent on these post-retirement funds.
During the session, several longstanding provident fund cases were successfully resolved through direct engagement between officials and departmental representatives. Representatives from the Departments of Home, Social Welfare, PWD (Buildings), Sericulture and Medical & Health actively participated and committed to promptly furnish required documents to enable early settlement of pending cases.
The Adalat concluded with renewed commitment to expedite pending case settlements. Shri Rupak Saha welcomed participants, while Shri Ratul Chandra Borah delivered the vote of thanks, emphasizing regular conduct of such platforms for beneficiaries’ welfare.
Officials from various district offices including the Deputy Commissioner Ri-Bhoi, Superintendent of Police from Ri-Bhoi and East Khasi Hills, District Sericulture Officer West Khasi Hills, Executive Engineer (Roads) Nongpoh, Block Development Officer Umling, Director of Social Welfare, Chief Engineer PWD (Buildings) Shillong, and District Medical & Health Officer West Khasi Hills Nongstoin were present and engaged in case-by-case discussions.
