A two-day workshop on World of Work (WoW), under the visionary leadership of Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, Head and CEO of PARAKH, NCERT, has been conducted at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Shillong, a PM Shri Secondary School on the 1st and 2nd December, 2025. This two-day World of Work (WoW) Workshop was conducted in collaboration between National Assessment Centre PARAKH, NCERT, New Delhi and the Directorate of Educational Research & Training (DERT), Meghalaya. This initiative is a landmark step towards realizing the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 especially to promote skill development and vocational education among school students of grade 9 and 10 in PM Shri schools covering all States and Union Territories

The inaugural session on the first day was graced by Mr. P. B Lartang, Joint Director, DERT, Meghalaya, Shillong who also welcomed the 2 (two) PARAKH, NCERT Resource Persons from New Delhi and other officials including the District School Education Officer (DSEO) of East Khasi Hills, DERT Assessment Cell team faculty members and School Teachers of Govt. Girls Hr. Secondary School, Shillong.

Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, CEO and Head PARAKH & Educational Survey Division, NCERT, New Delhi Delhi, delivered the keynote address and stressed upon the relevance of world of work and future preparedness and readiness of secondary school students through awareness, guidance and training on choosing the right emerging career paths that are relevant in today’s progressive society based on students’ interest and passion.

This unique workshop and the sessions on both days was facilitated by the two PARAKH resource persons and was designed to orient students towards both traditional and non-traditional career paths including 36 emerging job sectors of Ministry of Skill Development, the global AI trend, that are gaining prominence in a rapidly evolving global economy. Aligned with the Government of India’s larger vision to “Mend the Skill of India” the program aimed at nurturing informed, agile, and adaptable learners equipped for the jobs of tomorrow. The workshop saw the participation of 100 class 9 & 10 students and the respective class teachers of the school.
