The Jaintia National Council Western Zone, led by its president Shri Hamehi Bamon, visited the DMHO today to follow up on the tragic death of (L) Pynche Bareh. This serves as a reminder that on June 5, 2025, Kong Pynche Bareh and her unborn child passed away at the MCH Hospital in Jowai due to the inadequate services provided by the staff and doctors on duty at that time.

On June 5, 2025, the union met with the DMHO and submitted a letter requesting an investigation into the substandard services of the hospital employees. They demanded severe punishment for the actions that led to the loss of two precious lives. Additionally, they called on the government to deliver justice and take full responsibility for the children left behind.

In a follow-up, the DMHO stated that last month, after requesting a report, they had written again to the DHS to expedite the matter, ensuring that assistance reaches the family members as quickly as possible. The DMHO also assured the organization that by the 15th of this month, they would respond with actions to engage higher authorities.

The union further insisted that the findings of the inquiry conducted by the government over the past few months should be made public through the media.

The President of the JNC Western Zone warned that if no action is taken as promised by the DMHO by the 15th of this month, the JNC Western Zone will resort to strong measures.
