According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, the boy was brought to Bethany Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The student had reportedly left his home at around 1:30 pm. Later, at approximately 6 pm, his parents received a call from his phone informing them that he was at Umpling bridge.
