SHILLONG: Nangkiew Irat SC kicked off their debut campaign in the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL) in emphatic fashion, registering a massive 9-0 victory over Mulang SC Nongbah in a Group B clash at the MFA Ground.

Nangkiew Irat dominated from the start, leading 3-0 at half time before adding six more goals in the second half. Mulang SC’s task became even tougher after Dawanlangki Susngi was sent off following a double yellow card.
The goals came from Sangti Janai Shianglong (12’, 56’), Banshanlang Nongdhar (21’, 85’), Brolington Warlarpih (26’), Dibinroy Nongspung (57’, 88’) and Restom Khriam (90’).

Defending champions Mawlai SC secured a 3-1 victory over Amlarem SC in Group C. Amlarem had taken an early lead through Foulmi Khongiong (11’), but Mawlai responded strongly with goals from Fairming Suting (45’+3, 67’) and Damanbhalang Chyne (63’).
In Group G, Maram FC edged past A’chik SCO Rongjeng 3-2. Maram raced to a 3-0 lead before conceding twice late in the match.
2023 champions Rangdajied United FC had to come from behind to defeat Mawten SC 2-1 in Group H at Mawkyrwat. After trailing at half time, goals from Firstborn Roy Khongsti (69’) and Freelyson Tariang (81’) secured the win.
At the SSA Stadium in Shillong, Umkaber SCC staged a comeback to beat Mawshun SCC 3-2 in a thrilling Group A encounter.
Meanwhile, Shillong Lajong FC, champions of 2019, defeated Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC 3-0 in Group E after a goalless first half, with goals coming from Samchaphrang Lato (51’), Riborlang L Lyngkhoi (57’) and Banlamkupar Rynjah (81’).
In Group D, Thangskai Tiger SC edged Ladthadlaboh SC 1-0 in Khliehriat, thanks to a 68th-minute strike by captain Phermedaki Syrti.
