RI-BHOI : St. Alfred’s Secondary School emerged as the overall champion of the District Level Inter School Athletic Meet 2026 in Ri-Bhoi, delivering an outstanding performance by setting 17 new records across various events.
The three-day athletic meet, organized by the office of the District Sports Officer (DSO), Ri-Bhoi District, concluded on April 24 after witnessing enthusiastic participation from 45 schools across the district. The event began earlier in the week, providing a platform for students to showcase their talents and athletic skills in multiple disciplines.
The closing ceremony was graced by Mayral Born Syiem, MLA of Nongpoh, as the chief guest, while R. Shadap attended as the guest of honour. Other dignitaries present included E. Marak, Bobby L. Nongbet, officials from RBDSA, school principals, teachers, and hundreds of participating students.
In the Under-14 category, MeECL Secondary School, Kyrdemkulai won the girls’ title, while Nongsangu Secondary School secured the boys’ title. In the Under-16 category, St. Alfred’s Secondary School, Marngar clinched the girls’ title, while St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh won in the boys’ category.
For the Under-18 category, Nongtluh Higher Secondary School, Diwon emerged victorious in the girls’ section, while St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School dominated the boys’ category.
With the highest overall points tally and an impressive record-breaking performance, St. Alfred’s Secondary School, Marngar secured the championship title of the Inter School Athletic Meet 2026, marking a significant achievement in the district’s school sports calendar.
