RI-BHOI: In a major boost to science education in Meghalaya, NTPC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the District Administration of Ri-Bhoi to establish STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) laboratories in 27 government schools across the district.
The agreement marks a significant step towards strengthening educational infrastructure and promoting hands-on, experiential learning among students in the region.
🤝 MoA Signed to Transform Education
The MoA signing ceremony was attended by Abhilash Baranwal, Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi District, and Amit Kr. Asthana, Head of HR at NTPC Bongaigaon, Assam.
Other officials present included Sailand G Momin, Madhurjya Singha Lahkar, and Smriti Das, highlighting strong collaboration between the administration and NTPC.
💰 ₹1.48 Crore Investment in Education
Under this CSR initiative, NTPC will provide financial support of up to ₹1.48 crore to set up fully equipped STEM laboratories in the selected schools.
The project will include:
Infrastructure development
Procurement of modern STEM kits
Teacher training programmes
Ongoing maintenance and support
The District Administration of Ri-Bhoi will act as the implementing agency, ensuring execution, procurement, and quality control, while NTPC will monitor the project through regular reviews and site inspections.

The STEM labs will be equipped with advanced tools such as:
Robotics kits
Renewable energy models
Electronics modules
Digital learning aids
These facilities aim to enhance scientific thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students.
