SHILLONG : Strong resentment has emerged against the ongoing road blockade and disruption of transport routes affecting the supply of essential goods to various parts of Garo Hills.
The blockade, which began on April 25, 2026, has reportedly been carried out by an Assam-based organisation known as the All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU), severely impacting regions including Williamnagar, West Garo Hills, and South Garo Hills.
In response, the A·Chik Dedicated Integrity Leaders held a press conference on Tuesday at the Shillong Press Club, strongly condemning the actions of AAMSU.
Speaking to the media, Chairman Francis Marak stated that the blockade has caused immense hardship to residents across Garo Hills, particularly in Williamnagar, as the movement of essential commodities has been disrupted.
He further expressed concern that despite the situation continuing for several days, there has been no significant intervention or response from the state government to address the issue.
The organisation has urged the authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the matter and ensure the smooth transportation of goods to the affected regions.
