SHILLONG : The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department has announced a temporary shutdown of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme on June 15, 2026, to facilitate the replacement of pumping machinery at key pumping stations.
According to a notification issued by the Chief Engineer, PHE, the shutdown will remain in effect for eight hours, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The maintenance work will involve the replacement of pumping machinery at the Stage-I and Stage-II Pumping Stations under the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme.
As a result, there will be no water supply to Shillong city and its adjoining areas during the scheduled shutdown period.
The department informed that every effort will be made to complete the work and restore water supply to consumers at the earliest possible time.
Residents have been advised to make necessary arrangements in advance. The PHE Department has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption in water supply.
