SHILLONG : The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi Circle, accompanied by members of the Organising Committee of the Central Executive Council (CEC), on Friday sealed an allegedly illegal mosque at 4th Furlong in Shillong.
The action was led by KSU Organising Secretary Cleenstar Shabong on July 17, 2026, which also marked the death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem.
According to the KSU, the union received information that the land on which the mosque stands is reportedly owned by a non-tribal individual identified as Nurul Choudhary.
The union alleged that the mosque was constructed without the necessary documents and without obtaining permission from the competent authorities.
KSU stated that the premises will remain sealed until all relevant land ownership documents, construction approvals, and other legal permissions are produced and verified by the concerned authorities.
The union maintained that its action was aimed at ensuring that all constructions comply with the law and applicable regulations.
