SHILLONG : Sardar Police Station summoned Eladwanmi Papang, a member of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Shangpung Unit, on the morning of September 22, 2026, in connection with a scooty allegedly used during a two-wheeler rally organised by the KSU on August 19.
Speaking after appearing before the police, Eladwanmi said he was summoned after police identified his scooty among the vehicles used during the rally.
The KSU had organised the two-wheeler rally on August 19 to press for the implementation of five demands raised by the organisation.
However, Eladwanmi clarified that although the scooty belongs to him, he was not riding it during the rally.
According to him, his brother had used the scooty on the day of the rally, with another person riding the vehicle while his brother was seated behind.
Eladwanmi said the police summons was related to the use of his scooty during the rally.
The matter is currently under police inquiry.
