The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority has organised the National Lok Adalat on the 11th December, 2021 in 11 (eleven) districts of the State of Meghalaya, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and under the Patronage of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjib Banerjee, Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya and Patron-in-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) and under the supervision of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice H.S.Thangkhiew, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya and Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
In the National Lok Adalat, 639 Pre-Litigation cases and 454 pending cases were taken up for settlement. Total number of cases taken up were 1093 and of which 190 cases and an amount of ` 6278327.59/- (Rupees Sixty two lakhs seventy eight thousand three hundred twenty seven and fifty nine paise) only was settled in the National Lok Adalat.
