The office of the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills District has informed that the office has been actively carrying out drives against illicit liquor and has conducted raids in restaurants and stalls in the town and its outskirts where during the month of October 2020, the excise staff detected 38 cases with a seizure of 270.380 litres of i/d liquor and 221.240 litres IMFL. In this connection, 26 persons have been arrested under the Excise Act and the cases are under investigation/prosecution.
