ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VII, Umiam, is proud to announce the celebration of its IXth Foundation Day on 24th June 2025. This significant occasion marks its long years of dedicated service in advancing agricultural technology, fostering innovation, and strengthening the knowledge and extension ecosystem in the northeastern region of India.
The Foundation Day serves not only as a celebration of ICAR-ATARI’s journey and achievements but also as an opportunity to engage with its key stakeholders, visionary partners, and mentors who have contributed to its mission of improving agricultural productivity and sustainability through scientific and technological interventions.
This year’s programme will feature a comprehensive array of events designed to inspire, inform, and reflect on the institute’s progress and future directions. Highlights of the day include:
- Foundation Day Lecture by an eminent scientist, shedding light on emerging challenges and opportunities in North Eastern Hill Agriculture.
- Felicitation of distinguished achievers, recognizing outstanding contributions in agricultural science, technology dissemination, and grassroots innovation.
- Showcasing of institutional milestones, presenting key accomplishments and impacts made by ICAR-ATARI and its associated Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).
- Scientist-KVK interface, fostering dialogue between researchers and field-level professionals to enhance synergy in research-extension linkages.
- A forward-looking session on strategic vision and upcoming initiatives, outlining the roadmap for future growth and collaboration.
The event is expected to witness the participation of over 150 delegates, including scientists from ICAR and State Agricultural Universities, faculty members, KVK professionals, government officials, and progressive farmers from across the region.
Adding greater honour to the occasion, Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, has graciously consented to attend as the Chief Guest. Her presence will underscore the importance of strong institutional and government partnerships in building a resilient agricultural sector in the Northeast.
