The Congress party has received applications from around 70 aspirants seeking party tickets for the upcoming Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections, which are scheduled to be held later this year.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H Pala said the party is fully prepared to contest the GHADC elections.
“For the GHADC elections, we have been inviting applications for the last one month. Around 70 aspirants have applied for party tickets, and the matter is now under consideration,” Pala said.
He added that the final list of candidates will be announced once the official election schedule is declared by the authorities.
“Normally, after the election dates are announced, we declare our candidates. All preparations from our side have already been completed,” Pala stated.
The GHADC elections are expected to be a crucial political contest in the Garo Hills region, with major parties gearing up for the polls.
