Shillong, January 10, 2026: Justice Revati Mohite Dere was formally sworn in as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya during an oath-taking ceremony held at the Durbar Hall of Lok Bhavan in Shillong on Friday.
The oath of office was administered by Meghalaya Governor C. H. Vijayashankar. Justice Dere assumes charge following the transfer of the outgoing Chief Justice, Justice Soumen Sen, to the Kerala High Court.
Before her elevation as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, Justice Revati Mohite Dere served as a judge of the Bombay High Court and is widely respected for her contribution to the judiciary.
Her appointment marks an important chapter for the Meghalaya High Court, with expectations of strengthening the justice delivery system in the state.
