SHILLONG, SEP 3: The BJP Mawlai Mandal has taken up the issue of frequent power cuts in Lum Mawnei with officials of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).
The delegation, led by Mandal president Synshar Maiong, met MeECL officials at Mawlai Nongkwar and Lumjingshai on Wednesday to discuss the recurring power supply disruptions in the area.
In a memorandum submitted to the authorities, the BJP Mawlai Mandal said the area lacks dedicated line staff and a service vehicle, which it claimed has been contributing to delays in restoring power supply.
The Mandal also pointed out that the existing staff are required to cover areas under the municipality, further affecting the response to power-related complaints in Lum Mawnei.
According to the Mandal, the Director (Distribution) has assured that priority action will be taken to address the issue.
