Shillong : Members of the Hill Farmer Union, along with farmers and livestock rearers, met Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday to raise concerns over the delay in approval of the Market Act rules framed by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
The meeting was held in light of the difficulties faced by farmers due to the lack of approval from the Governor for the KHADC Market Act rules.
Speaking to reporters, General Secretary of the union, Bah Alfund Kharsyntiew, said that the purpose of the meeting was to understand the reasons behind the delay in getting the Governor’s approval for the rules.
He informed that Deputy Chief Minister Tynsong also shared similar concerns over the delay and expressed seriousness on the issue. The minister assured the delegation that he would take necessary responsibility and make all efforts to expedite the process so that the approval is granted at the earliest.
