SHILLONG : The Jaintia National Council (JNC) Jalaphet Circle conducted an inspection of the proposed government college construction site at Jalaphet Bri-Sumer village on Wednesday, marking a significant step for higher education in East Jaintia Hills.
Andy Bareh, president of JNC Jalaphet Circle, noted that seeing construction machinery on site indicates that the government is finally addressing a long-standing demand of the local community. “This is a positive sign for the future of education in the region,” he said.
Bareh praised the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government’s commitment and extended gratitude to 5-Sutnga Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla for her persistent efforts in pushing the project forward.
He emphasized that the contractor must uphold diligence, quality, and efficiency, warning that any delays or shortcuts would disappoint community expectations.
The JNC leader expressed hope that the college would significantly improve access to higher education in East Jaintia Hills, raising academic standards across Meghalaya. The council also pledged to closely monitor the construction progress.
