Search operations by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for Agriculture Officer Teseng M. Sangma, who was swept away in Ganol River last Sunday continued today since 6:30 AM in the morning. The SDRF concentrated their efforts downstream at Pelga Waterfalls today to locate the officer. However, the operations did not yield any result till it was called off today at 7 PM due to poor visibility. Strong currents and high level of water due to excess water being released from the Ganol Hydel Project upstream at Chibragre posed great obstacles for the SDRF team including the Fire & Emergency Services involved in the search operations for the officer. Shri MK Sangma, Director of Civil Defence, Meghalaya also reviewed the search operations today at Pelga Waterfalls and provided important inputs to the SDRF team.
