SHILLONG : Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Urban Affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, on Tuesday said that several key urban infrastructure projects across Meghalaya are nearing completion and are expected to be inaugurated after the current financial year.
Speaking to reporters, Dhar said that construction work on major urban projects is progressing at a steady pace.
“The works are in full swing everywhere,” Dhar said, highlighting the momentum achieved in project execution.
He informed that the Polo project has already been completed and inaugurated, while the Meghalaya Tourism Centre (MTC) at Police Bazaar is expected to be inaugurated by May or June.
The deputy chief minister further stated that work is also progressing on the new Secretariat building and several multi-level parking facilities across the city.
“I think after March, a number of parking facilities will be inaugurated,” Dhar added.
The upcoming infrastructure projects are expected to ease traffic congestion and improve urban amenities in Shillong and other urban areas of the state.
