SHILLONG, FEB 19: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has expressed profound shock and grief over the sudden demise of its Shillong MP, Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon, calling it a great loss to both the party and the state.
“It is a great loss to the party and the state as a whole,” VPP leader and KHADC Chairman Strong Pillar Kharjana said.
He informed that Dr Syngkon had gone to play futsal before the incident. After collapsing, he was first shifted to Mawiong Community Health Centre (CHC) and later referred to Dr HG Roberts Hospital.
“The incident took place at around 7 pm. We were shocked at the sudden demise of Dr Syngkon,” he added.
Dr Syngkon, a dedicated representative of Shillong in the Lok Sabha, succumbed to his condition at the hospital.
His passing has triggered a wave of condolences from party leaders, supporters, and the wider community, who are mourning the loss of a committed public servant.
