SHILLONG, FEB 19: Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon, Member of Parliament from Shillong representing the Voice of the People Party (VPP), passed away on Thursday night at Dr HG Roberts Hospital.
According to sources, Dr Syngkon collapsed while playing football at Mawlai Mawiong and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed.
Soon after news of his collapse spread, several political leaders rushed to the hospital, including Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, and VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit.
Dr Syngkon had made history in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by defeating three-time Congress MP Vincent H Pala with a massive margin of 3.7 lakh votes.
