SHILLONG : Six-time BJP legislator from Pynthorumkhrah, Alexander Laloo Hek, has been conferred the AIMS Democratic Leadership Award 2026 at a समारोह held at the Constitutional Club of India in New Delhi.The award was presented by the Alliance of Intellectual Minds & Statesmen (AIMS) in recognition of Hek’s contribution to democratic values and leadership over a political career spanning nearly three decades.According to a statement issued by the state BJP, the honour reflects Hek’s consistent performance as a public representative and his repeated electoral success over the years.“The award reflects Shri Hek’s exemplary performance as an elected representative of the people,” the statement said.The party further stated that the recognition highlights the BJP’s emphasis on inclusive development and good governance, which has helped build trust among the people.“AIMS has reaffirmed the leadership qualities of Shri Hek and the administrative values of BJP—values that focus on inclusive development and earning people’s confidence through effective governance,” it added.The BJP expressed hope that the recognition would motivate party members to continue working towards bringing positive change and development in Meghalaya.
