SHILLONG : A coalition of youth organizations from Mawsynram Block, comprising the FKJGP, HYC and HNYF, has announced a public march to the Meghalaya Secretariat on June 12 to demand the removal of SAI Computer Ltd from Mawsynram.
Speaking to reporters, Chairman of the Joint Action Committee of the youth organizations of Mawsynram Block, Bah Tyngshain Ronsang, said that the organizations had earlier voiced strong opposition to the State Government’s decision, through the MeECL, to hand over the project to SAI Computer Ltd.
Ronsang stated that the delegation had already met the Power Minister to convey their concerns and demands. However, despite the meeting, the organizations have not yet received any clear response from the Government regarding whether their demands have been accepted or rejected.
In view of the lack of response, the youth organizations have decided to organize a march to the Secretariat on June 12 as a mark of protest. The demonstration will also be joined by residents from Mawsynram Block and Ranikor Block who oppose the presence of SAI Computer Ltd in the area.
The organizations said the protest is intended to send a strong message to the Government and urge it to take immediate action on the concerns raised by the people of the two blocks.
