Shillong : Meghalaya Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Tuesday said the state government is awaiting the outcome of an internal inquiry being conducted by the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) into an alleged molestation case before taking any further action.
Speaking to reporters, Shylla said the institute has already initiated an investigation into the allegations.
“We have enquired with them, and they have already ordered an investigation. We are now waiting for their report,” the minister said.
He stated that the government will decide its next course of action only after examining the findings of the inquiry.
“Based on their report, we will take appropriate action. We have to give them time to complete the inquiry and determine what exactly happened,” Shylla said.
He added that if any irregularities are found during the investigation, the state government will intervene accordingly.
The Health Minister, however, declined to share further details of the case, stating that the matter is currently under investigation by NEIGRIHMS.
