On 11 Jan 2023, BSF Meghalaya seized cosmetics items i.e, Skin Shine cream worth rupees 4.30 lakhs from the bordering area of East Jaintia Hills foiling the attempts of miscreants to smuggle them to Bangladesh.

The consignment was seized by troops of 172 Bn BSF from the village area of Hangaria, East Jaintia hills while miscreants were trying to cross it over to Bangladesh. The seized items handed over to customs for further investigation and legal action. The Indian cosmetics items are in high demand in Bangladesh which leads to illegal flow of these items into Bangladesh. BSF Meghalaya in year 2022 seized cosmetics worth Rupees 1.12 Crore from the Indo-BD border of Meghalaya.
