The PMAY-U award function by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi was held through VC at the Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Nongstoin and at the Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Nongpoh on 1st January, 2021.
The award function began with the laying of foundation stone at six locations for the Light House Projects by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at 11:00 AM on 1st January, 2021 which was followed by the felicitation of Best Performing States.
Following this was the PMAY (U) awards wherein Nagar Panchayats from 8 different states were selected for the Best Performing ‘Nagar Panchayat’ in which Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District was selected. The award was presented by MoS (I/C) Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri.Later, the award for ‘Best House Construction’ was awarded to 88 beneficiaries from all over the country and from Meghalaya 3 of these awards was given to beneficiaries from Mairang, Smti Hamida Kharmawlong, Smti Marsha Wahlangsyllei of Nongstoin and Smti Lucybon Syngkli of Nongpoh which was presented by Secretary, Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Durga Shanker Mishra.
