SHILLONG : The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association has announced a protest rally in Shillong on September 25 over the alleged delay by the state government in taking action on several demands raised by the teachers.
The demands include the implementation of the Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) and National Pension System (NPS) for all deficit school teachers, along with the release of 51% and 53% Dearness Allowance (DA) and other pending issues.
The association announced its decision during an interaction with the media at the Shillong Press Club on the morning of September 23, 2026.
Speaking to reporters, association president Boswell S. Pala said the teachers had decided to organise the protest as part of their efforts to press the government to address their demands.
He said the rally would be held on September 25, beginning with a procession from the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) and culminating at Madan Malki.
Pala appealed to all deficit teachers, including those teaching at the primary, secondary and college levels, to participate in the protest.
He also urged the state government not to take any steps that could undermine or jeopardise the deficit education system in Meghalaya.
The association said the proposed protest was aimed at drawing the government’s attention to the pending demands and seeking action on the issues raised by deficit teachers.
