SHILLONG, FEB 25: The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) on Tuesday lodged an FIR with the Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, Shillong, over a YouTube video released by Sunil Deodhar, a national secretary of the BJP.
Speaking to the media, HITO president Donbok Dkhar strongly objected to the remarks made in the video, alleging that Deodhar made offensive statements and levelled accusations against the government and the Christian community using inflammatory language.
Dkhar also urged residents to remain alert and not be influenced by such narratives.
He appealed to the public to stay vigilant, think critically, and avoid being “brainwashed” by divisive messaging.
Concerns Over History and Social Harmony
The organisation stated that the remarks distort the history and traditions of the Khasi-Pnar community and could damage social harmony among the people.
According to HITO, such statements misrepresent cultural heritage and risk harming peaceful coexistence among different communities in Meghalaya.
