SHILLONG : In solidarity with students across India, the Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) organised a public gathering at Khyndailad in Shillong to support the demands of students protesting against examination paper leaks and to call for reforms in the education system.
The gathering was attended by representatives of pressure groups, students and parents, who came together to stand in solidarity with the students and support their demands.
The speakers strongly criticised the Government of India over the alleged use of force against students who were protesting in Delhi. They also demanded that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan step down from his post, holding the government responsible for the concerns raised by students.
The participants also strongly condemned a social media post which they alleged had adversely affected students.
The students said they would continue to stand in solidarity with protesting students across the country and raise their voices for justice, fairness and meaningful reforms in the education system.
They stressed that students deserve a transparent and fair examination system and that the authorities must take concrete steps to prevent examination paper leaks and protect the future of students across the country.
