The Jaintia National Council (JNC) has called on the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) to respond to pending public demands that remain unresolved.
According to the JNC, the council has not yet taken steps to regulate trading licenses for individuals who are not indigenous, affecting locals and lawful workers in the region.
The JNC emphasized the need to protect the livelihoods and rights of indigenous communities.
In addition, the council demanded that the Pnar language be reinstated in official proceedings within the JHADC, stating that the local language of the region has the right to be used in council affairs.
Expressing concern over the lack of action, the JNC warned that if these issues are not addressed promptly, it will continue organizing public protests in the coming days.
