WILLIAMNAGAR: Janepih YSCA continued their dominant run in the 5th Meghalaya State League with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over A’chik SCO Rongjeng in a closely contested Group G match played on Thursday.
The match proved to be Janepih’s toughest challenge so far, but the team managed to maintain their perfect record, registering their third consecutive win in the competition. With this result, they sit comfortably at the top of the group table with 9 points and are yet to concede a single goal.
A’chik SCO Rongjeng delivered a strong performance and pushed their opponents throughout the match but were unable to find the breakthrough. The defeat marks their second loss in three matches, leaving them in fourth place with 3 points in the five-team group.
The decisive moment came late in the game, when substitute Bankheinlang Rongring made an instant impact. Coming off the bench, he found the back of the net with less than 10 minutes of regulation time remaining, scoring the only goal of the match just five minutes after being introduced.
Meanwhile, there has been a change in fixtures for Group A, with two matches now scheduled for Friday in Williamnagar. Umkaber SCC will take on Khimusniang SC at 1 PM, followed by a clash between Nongkseh SSCC and Mawshun SCC at 5 PM. Fixtures for all other groups remain unchanged, with matches set to kick off at 3 PM.
